Post 05: People of Action ~ We are to be People of Action
People of Action
My March 18 prayer: Lord, I want to be SO in tune with You that I would hear Your voice, and that I would move into action when action is required. (Knowing that sometimes waiting is part of that action.)
Matthew 16: 24 (all scriptures from the Amplified Bible); Then Jesus said to His disciples, If any one desires to be My disciple, let him deny himself – that is, disregard himself, lose sight of and forget himself and his own interests – and take up his cross and follow Me [cleave steadily to Me, conform wholly to My example of living and if need be dying, also].
Actions: Deny self; take up our cross; follow Him.
Vereses25-27; (25) For whoever is bent on saving his [temporal] life [his comfort and security here], shall lose [eternal life]; and whoever loses his life] his comfort and security here] for My sake, shall find [life everlasting]. (26) For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life – his [blessed] life in the kingdom of God? Or what would a man give as an exchange for his [blessed] life – in the kingdom of God? (27) For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory (majesty, splendor) of His Father, with His angels, and then He will render account and reward every man in accordance with what he has done.
Actions: “Bent on saving” and “give as exchange for his life” are steps to save oneself; they are actions! God will “render account’ (to every man) according to what he has done – according to his actions!
Verse 28; Truly, I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste of death before they see the Son of man coming in (into) His kingdom.
Actions: Standing, not taste of death, and seeing – all are actions!
- God wants us to move into actions – to be people of action!
- Jesus was a Man of action – he performed miracles, he went places, he did things
- We are to emulate Christ on earth (See Matthew 28: 18-20)
Emulate – to imitate the function of another; to stive to be equal (to excel), to add up to; to match another’s success; to copy.
We can “move into action” by spending Time in God’s presence – praying (speaking and listening to God), reading God’s Word, praising, worshipping, studying His Word, sharing with others – by walking daily in His presence in faith and obedience.
Maybe Jesus will return today or tomorrow, maybe. We hope He does! But: We must be about our Father’s business until He returns. We cannot just sit back, taking no action, hoping and expecting Him to return. We need to move into action! We must be people of action! Jesus was.
